Rise by Anoushka Shankar

Hi…

Another album which I play very often these days is “Rise” by Anoushka Shankar.

Very melodious…

All those even with little inclination towards Indian classical music would like it.

It starts with “Prayer in passing” which will immediately attract you to hang on..

Tabla bols in second track “Red Sun” are worth listening again.

Mahadeva (third track) – Oh, I love it. I love the pure classical singing more so because it mostly uses lyrics describing Gods.

Each track is good though my favourite is the 8th track “Voice of the Moon”. Lovely.

This is the first album I have from Anoushka Shankar and now I am going to get all her previous ones too.

I recommend “Rise”. : )

Music I love...

Well… I have learnt Indian Classical Vocal for 11 years so that’s what I like basically. But what is ULTIMATE for me is music of/from “PREM JOSHUA”.
I have heard masters in their field and they were very impressive indeed but the joy, the bliss I got (and still get) hearing Prem Joshua’s music is ultimate!
Its fusion – music wise, spiritual – content wise, danceable – enjoyment wise.
Pick up any album and I am sure you will love it.

The first album I heard of him was “Desert Vision” and I immediately fell in love with his music.

Hamsafar’ has different flavour.

Sky kisses Earth” gives so much peace, if you are stressed at amy time, listen to it and see the effect! Put it at bed time and you will have a sound sleep!

Water down the Ganges” – Read the story of songs and then see how songs without any lyrics portray the story so beautifully. Excellent! So much danceable. Great work on Sitar there.

Yatri” – actually I always run out of words when ever I talk of Prem Joshua’s music. Hear this and enjoy !

And now the latest ( mind you, I haven’t mentioned all of his albums, there are more) – TARANGA – what to say about it. I am in love with it. Each track is beautiful, so meditative, so fulfilling…. I feel connected to Krishna (my god)…

I can just say – Listen to it and you will too fall in love with his music.
